HR Club: Taiwan's 2026 Salary Survey, Market Outlook and Talent Strategies
16 September 2026, French Chamber Taiwan Office
The French Chamber's HR Club gathered on September 16 at the French Chamber Taiwan office for a session on Robert Walters Taiwan's Salary Survey 2026, looking at hiring trends and talent strategy for the year ahead.
John Winter, Country Manager of Robert Walters Taiwan, presented Taiwan's 2026 outlook: hiring remains cautious, with 63% of businesses citing political and economic uncertainty, yet demand for specialised talent in semiconductors, hardware, AI and advanced manufacturing keeps pressuring salaries and retention. Salaries are expected to stay broadly stable, though scarce, in-demand skills can still command 10% to 20% increases on a job move, and 57% of professionals said they are actively looking for new opportunities, a retention risk employers will need to watch. On AI, 79% of professionals believe it will positively affect their careers, though critical thinking and fact-checking topped the list of skills valued for the AI era. The presentation closed on Taiwan's shifting demographics, with Gen Z's share of the workforce projected to grow from 13% in 2025 to 21% by 2030.
Members' discussion added that recruitment activity has visibly picked up since around April or May, led by semiconductors and hardware, and raised the risk that if AI absorbs more entry level work, companies will need to rethink early career development to protect their future leadership pipeline.
