[Event Recap] Women Building Resilience, Leading Change

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the French Office in Taipei, the National Human Rights Commission of Taiwan, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Taiwan (CCIFT), France Alumni Taiwan, and French Tech Taiwan organized an evening at Opéra Taipei dedicated to the theme “Women: Building Resilience, Leading Change.”

In a geopolitical environment marked by growing challenges related to resilience and security, the panel addressed several key issues, including women’s participation in the armed forces, their role in civil defense, and the fight against violence against women in times of conflict.

Moderated by Chi Hui-jung, Vice-President of the National Human Rights Commission, the discussion brought together Liu Wen (Kuma Academy), Shen Hsiu-hua (Awakening Foundation), Theresa D. Yeh (Taipei Women’s Rescue Foundation), and Enoch Wu (Forward Alliance).

This exchange also reflected the feminist diplomacy promoted by France since 2019, which places women’s rights and gender equality at the heart of foreign policy. This approach integrates gender equality across all areas of external action, including peace and security, development, economic cooperation, climate, and digital transformation. Within this framework, France actively supports women’s participation in peace processes and decision-making, while also working to combat sexual violence in conflict.

Discussing the role of women in resilience also means recognizing their place in the strategic sectors of our societies, where leadership and decision-making shape the future. In this spirit, the evening continued with a speed mentoring session focused on professional pathways and the role of women in these emerging sectors.
