CFO Club: Data Management and AI Insights

The French Chamber's CFO Club convened to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping the toolkit available to corporate finance teams, and the questions that come with adopting it. Eric Sichère, Head of Procurement at Air Liquide, led an in-depth workshop examining current AI providers and how their tools can help finance teams address recurring operational challenges.
He raised a number of considerations that finance leaders will need to work through as adoption grows: the risk of biased or skewed data outputs, particularly when reports are prepared by non-finance staff without the training to catch such distortions, the potential for AI to reduce demand for junior finance roles, whether AI access should be extended freely across an organization or managed more selectively given the associated costs, and the ongoing question of data security as these tools handle increasingly sensitive financial information. Underlying much of the discussion was a broader question: whether agentic AI will genuinely transform how finance departments operate, or whether its impact will prove more incremental than promised.
Attendees engaged in a lively and detailed discussion, drawing on their own companies' experiences to compare notes on where AI has already changed their operations and where they remain cautious.
