The European Union (EU) and Taiwan have developed a solid and dynamic relationship based on common values, interests and objectives. Despite the pandemic, EU investments in Taiwan and EU-Taiwan trade reached fresh record highs in the past two years while the EU and Taiwan have continued to deepen their cooperation in green energy, the circular economy, human rights, research and innovation, education and culture. The EU and Taiwan share a common vision of a green and sustainable future and have both committed to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The EU is a global leader in promoting renewable energy and the largest investor in Taiwan’s offshore wind energy sector while Taiwan has set ambitious targets to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and increase its green energy production.

In addition, Taiwan's advanced manufacturing sector, particularly the electronics and semiconductor industry, presents an ideal opportunity for future collaboration between the EU and Taiwan by leveraging the EU’s strength in R&D and Taiwan's expertise in semiconductor manufacturing.

At this event, our guest speaker will highlight how the solid foundation and shared values make the EU and Taiwan ideal collaborators for the future development of green energy, the circular economy, eco-design and advanced manufacturing in both the EU and Taiwan.
