Carlos CASANOVAEconomist

Carlos Casanova is Coface’s Asia Pacific Economist, based in Hong Kong. He is responsible for managing the group’s research on Asian economies and sectors, to provide insights to clients on the region’s economic and industrial outlooks.

His work has been published in a number of reputable peer-reviewed academic journals. He has also published in books on the Chinese economy. Carlos appears regularly in interviews with international media outlets such as Bloomberg TV, Financial Times, Deutsche Welle, Nikkei Asian Review and the Spanish newspaper El Pais. 

Prior to joining Coface, Carlos worked as an Economist for the Spanish multinational banking group Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) in Hong Kong, and the European Commission in Beijing.

Carlos holds an MA in International Economics from the Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a BA Joint Honours from the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). He speaks Mandarin Chinese, English and Spanish fluently.
